Congress Park - John and Carolyn VanSciver

Our house in Congress Park was built in 1900, designed by Varian and Sterner arcitects and built by Thomas and Caroline Dunbar. The house was built as a spec house to be sold. The Colonial Revival house cost $5000 to build.

We bought the house in 1992. It had not been occupied for nearly two years and was in need of about 50 years of deferred maintenence. We saw past the dirt and shoddyness to it's very good "bones". After many years of work we are approching the finish of our labor. It is a grand old house and we love it.
